Deana Martin, that is. No relation. No relation to Steve I mean, but she is Dean Martin's daughter. So yes, it's pronounced Dean-a. Her opening question (2:20) is an absolute blinder, and the three suitors the other side of the "Dating Game" screen to whom she asks it complement each other so perfectly I wonder if the whole thing wasn't scripted by Steve in between "laying out the laffs for the Smothers Brothers": Number 1's debilitating handsomeness leads him confidently into answers that are almost clinically wrong, Number 2 saves the day with the exact opposite, plus jokes, and Number 3, neither confident nor funny, simply maintains a subtly weird hum, laying into mothers or when asked what his best feature is answering "my eye". SPOILER WARNING: Number 2 wins the day of course, and if it's not scripted then it's one of the most romantic things I've ever witnessed, which might be why I want to believe it's a fiction: the idea of Deana and Steve not living together happily ever after as a result of this meet cute is too disappointing to countenance. Either way it's art, and the "Prego! Prego!" guy at 9:30 gives it the chef's kiss. See what you think.

I Came For Steve Martin and Stayed For Deana.
